When many of us take a picture, it is with the thought that we will share it with others. It’s a moment in time in our own lives and we would like somebody else to experience it as well.

On occasion, a seemingly innocent photo may turn viral for all the right reasons. It makes people feel good on the inside as they look at the innocence that is taking place in the picture, and it brings a smile to their faces.

That is what happened when one mother took a picture of a little boy helping his father with his two premature twin sisters. Since they were premature, they needed to be warmed and they were using the father and the sons body heat for that.

This picture was originally shared on the Facebook page, Parents and Birth in Denmark but it is now viral on many pages. It follows along with what is being done in many Scandinavian maternity centers, and it is helping newborns across the board.

Having skin to skin contact is very important for the comfort of the newborn child. It is especially important to premature babies, who don’t have fully developed nervous systems so they are in need of this help. It is also known as ‘kangaroo care’

This picture shows what can happen when parents and their children get involved in the skin to skin method. The young boy is resting on his father’s chest and cradling a second infant close to him. It is such a peaceful scene that it is enough to put you to sleep.

The skin that goes along with the photo describes how Kangaroo Care works.

“Skin to skin contact helps the baby to breathe better. The child becomes more calm and gains weight faster. Research shows that parents bacterial flora – compared with hospital bacteria – reduces the risk of serious infections in these delicate children.”
