Matthew Perry’s death has broken a lot of hearts of not just his fans but also other entertainers who knew the late actor. In the days since his passing, a lot of tributes have been made for Matthew Perry.

Now, actor Michael J. Fox has come out with a story not a lot of people know… keep reading to know more.

Michael J. Fox is looking back on his friendship with the late Matthew Perry. A lot of people might not know how deep their connection went, mostly because both actors preferred to keep their relationship private.

62-year-old Fox was having a talk at this year’s A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to Cure Parkinson’s Gala, an annual fundraising event for the Michael J. Fox Foundation the actor founded.

“Matthew and I had spent some time together over the years,” Fox revealed. “He was a hockey player, a good hockey player, and we played hockey together.”

Last year, Perry had opened up about their relationship as well. He talked about how he first came across Fox and was immediately threatened by him. While promoting his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry sat down with Tom Power in Toronto for a public conversation.

He revealed that he had been influenced by Fox when he was a teenager. “I was young, I had done a couple of plays in school, and Michael J. Fox was it, man. When I was in ninth grade, Michael J. Fox had just done Back to the Future, and there was smoke coming out of my ears, I was so jealous of this guy,” Perry enthused. He added, “And he had, at the time, the no. 1 TV show and the no.1 movie at the same time! So he was huge. And I don’t know anybody else who’s done that — except me.”

As for Fox, he also had nothing but praise for the late actor. He revealed something no one really knew. Fox shared at the recent benefit that when the Friends cast signed their record-setting contracts and became millionaires for the rest of their lives, Perry did something secretly.

He showed a lot of generosity to Fox’s foundation, which was very new at the time. “I hope this isn’t indiscreet… but when they first made their big sale [on their Friends contracts] and were made millionaires for the rest of their lives, He wrote a big fat check to the foundation,” Fox shared. “We were really early on and trying to find our feet. And it was such a vote of confidence.”

“And it wasn’t accompanied by any self-aggrandizing or anything, he was just like, ‘Take it and do your best,’” the actor revealed. “I loved that,” Fox concluded.

This was such a heartwarming story to hear about; Perry wanted no praise for what he had done. And when it came to the fact that Fox had been an influence on Perry for his career, Fox was as humble as ever, saying, “He was just a funny guy, and if I was ever as funny as him — I mean, he was the funniest — I’m happy I had an impact on him. He was a funny guy.”

Perry was found dead in his hot tub at his Los Angeles property on October 28, 2023. He was 54 years old at the time of his passing. Since then, the actor has been laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles. The cemetery is located near the Warner Bros. Studios, where he filmed Friends. His funeral was attended by all his former castmates, including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer.

This is such a heartwarming tale from the late actor’s life. He truly was a wonderful person. Share this with other fans of Matthew Perry and Michael J. Fox so they can also enjoy this amazing story that not a lot of people know!
