Honey Boo Boo, 17, and her boyfriend Dralin Carswell, 21, have a huge announcement as the teen prepares to move from Georgia to Colorado for college.
The star of ‘Mama June: From Not to Hot’ shared with Entertainment Tonight that she will be enrolling at Regis University in Denver, in fall to pursue her dreams of becoming a nurse.
At the same time, she also revealed that she will be living off-campus for security reasons, and that her boyfriend will be joining her.
“I think he’s more excited to move out there than me,” Honey Boo Boo – whose real name is Alana Thompson – remarked about her beau, with whom she has been in a relationship for nearly three years.
“Being in the same Georgia town his entire life, he’s eager to experience something new,” she added.
While the idea of moving “halfway across the country” and living with Dralin for the first time makes her a little nervous, Alana expressed her excitement about the upcoming changes. “I think it’ll be good for us, honestly. And I mean, I think it will be fun,” she said.
Regarding their future together, Alana stated that they have discussed it but doesn’t want to rush into marriage – with the reality TV star adding that she hopes Dralin might be “the one,” but also acknowledging that life can be unpredictable.
“I can’t say that [he’s the one] because I don’t know what life holds — any day now, anything can happen — but I mean, I hope,” she shared, remarking that they still have a few things to “figure out in the long run.”
“I don’t want kids, but he wants kids,” she explained.
During the interview, Alana’s half-sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, and her mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, were present to offer their full support.
Lauryn, who has had sole custody of Alana since June 2022, emphasized that: “You don’t truly know somebody until you move in with somebody,” while Mama June added: “I told her it’s either gonna make or break her and Dralin.”
Though, the mother-of-four did say that Alana can always come home if she finds the move to another state too difficult.
“All that matters to me is that Dralin treats Alana right, he’s respectful, my kids love him, his family is great — that’s all that matters to me,” Lauryn chimed in.
Alana and Dralin made their relationship Instagram-official in September 2021, and despite facing criticism due to their four-year age gap, they have continued to defend their relationship.
Alana mentioned that they are happy together, and their families support their relationship, so the opinions of fans or critics don’t bother them.
Last May, Alana graduated from high school, and now she is eager to embark on this new chapter in her life at Regis University, accompanied by her boyfriend, as they look forward to all the adventures that lie ahead.
Congratulations to Alana and Dralin!
